2m Repeater – 147.33+
Official Platte County SkyWarn repeater.
General Information
The 147.33 machine is located at the National Weather Service Central Region Headquarters, near KCI airport and is the official Platte County SkyWarn repeater.
Installation of the MSF-5000 was completed August 2010 - following the sudden failure of the Micor repeater – the performance has shown to be quite improved.
The MSF-5000 is controlled with an Arcom 210.
Coverage Area
The antenna pattern favors the north since the transmitter site is in the southern end of the county. Tests have shown generally good coverage at 20 miles; with many reports well beyond. Extreme southern parts of the county are hit and miss due to the river bluffs. The wa0qfj repeater has regular check-ins from Lawrence, KS and Bates City, Mo. Amateur operators from St. Joseph and Cameron have checked into the weekly nets too.
